Monochromatic Flair!

It's Friends with Flair Friday again! Unity Stamp Co posts 50 of their customers blogs to share creations on Friday!
Who does that?

I ended up creating a simple monochromatic card, did a little sponging, distressing the edges and added some Stickles:

What a challenge!

One of Unity's new challenges is going to last for 7 weeks...it's the Bachelor Bro-man Challenge! There is lots to be had...$750 worth of product as a grand prize!

Week 1 Challenge was to make a card for Bro-man asking for a date (or your loved one). You had to use his favorite colors of red, green and black. Since the first week's winners will be announced on Thursday, September 24th I put that date on my card. Here's my card for week 1:

Friends with Flair Friday!

Hello Friends! Today is another customer blog day showing your Unity goodness. Wow, the new Unity theme "WHO DOES THAT?" is pretty cool! Lots of new fun at Unity especially with the new 'Bachelor' challenge too!

I have recently taken a couple of classes with Heidi Swapp and she does a lot of "masking" and stamps lots of images together. I have some scrapbook pages that I have to finish up and I will share those soon...really fun and messy techniques!

So...I decided to try some masking on a Unity card and I stamped many images together too. I also used some Gold Glimmer Mist that looks awesome in real life. I misted the sun rays and center of the sun and the flowers. Then I put Glimmer Mist on the chocolate chip c/s on the bottom of the card just below the scallops:

A close-up of the flowers...you can see the Gold Glimmer Mist on this pic:

Friends with Flair Friday!

From Unity Projects

Wow, how can this week have gone by soooo fast? It must have been the short week due to the holiday and the hectic school/baseball schedule!

It's great to share Friday's with our Unity friends...lots of talent and original ideas...you guys are all awesome!

I created this card with the August KOM...Following my Heart. I read somewhere to try and NOT use pattern paper so I doodled on the red cardstock and doodled little flowers on the bike. You can't really tell, but I tried Beate's tutorial from SCS to use my Scor-Pal and scored the c/s that the bike is on, while also sponging the edges in Creamy Caramel. Then I used some siren Smooch on the bike and hearts, which does stand out IRL. Sorry for the picture (that's what I get when I try to take a photo at night):

Thanks for coming by! By the way, on my "to do" list: set up a photo corner with appropriate lighting to get better results for my pictures! Enjoy your weekend!

Remembering 9/11

It just seems like yesterday. Watching the news. Seeing the airplane. It is so vivid in my mind.

I worked for Bank of America for many years, and we had three associates in the tower who never returned home that day. We rallied a Fire Truck Fund and sold little Dalmations throughout the country to raise money for the purchase of fire trucks for the city of New York, one dedicated for each of our bank's fallen.

Last year, my son and I had the chance to go to New York. We went to the site. There is so much emotion that you feel when you are actually there. It was sad. All the construction is going on, but yet, it was calm. So many lost there lives, and they will always have a special place in our hearts.

We will never forget our fallen heroes of September 11, 2001...may they rest in peace.

Friends with FLAIR Friday!

Yup, instead of HHH (Hip Hop Hangover), we are now FFF for Unity's 1st "Friends with FLAIR Friday" ...woohoo, yahoo (horns blowing, excitement from everyone in the background)! I LUV Unity stamps, don't you?

Today, I am sharing another creation for Unity's KOM challenge: use green, purple, orange and black colors...this time it's not a Halloween project though! I am using the KOM for August which is called "Follow my Heart..."and made this cute little pocket purse. This purse is a pattern from Scor-Pal (which makes it soooo easy to score and fold!), and I think it is so cute, don't you? For the inside of the pocket purse, I put some bookmarks that I made...simple and easy 'cause you don't want something bulky inside of your book (I don't like bent or wrinkled book pages)!

The inside of the purse has magnets so that you can open and close the purse easily:

Unity KOM Challenge...and SU!...

I made this card for the Unity KOM challenge: use purple, green, orange and black colors.

I tried to create a spooky schoolhouse scene with the August KOM: Following my Heart...(even though these are NOT Halloween stamps)!

I white embossed the trees and schoolhouse; shadowed orange on the bottom, and green on the top with chalks; put eyes in the woods with white gel pen; made a green full moon with the sun image (from the bird stamp), and popped up an extra crooked bell house on the top.

Just wanted to try and create something a little different...so here it is:

And...I'm sure many are hearing about Stampin' Up!s new policy for demo's...you can't post other "competing" company names and links on your personal blogs, etc. I really love all of the SU! products and it's been fun being a "hobby demo". I ALSO enjoy many other companies, just like Unity Stamp Co (above)...it's sad that many have to now make a choice over which friend to keep...but each demo must make their own decision and figure out what's right for them.

I'm sure that SU! had to contemplate very carefully their decision to put this change into place, and define the fine lines of this fast growing environment we know as the internet. I truly believe they are a smart company and have weighed the numbers very carefully. In this economy, every company is competing for their market share and making changes as they deem appropriate. Changes are always on the horizon in life. Best of luck to each fellow demo on finding your future and making the choices that will satisfy you!

Update: Shelli (SU!) is having a webinar tonight to take and answer questions...fellow demo's go sign up on the demo website if you're interested!
